Pete Dafeet
Hailing from a market town in Berkshire, Lost My Dog co-founder Pete Dafeet took to the decks as a teenager in the late 90s, sucked into house music by the melodic tomfoolery of chart acts like Cassius, Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx.
Moving to the East Midlands town of Loughborough for University opened up a world of musical variation to the young Dafeet, but over the course of his 3 year stay his tastes became firmly rooted in deep house. Spinning at Strakes' Kahua parties boosted his confidence and Pete became a regular at Nagajan Modhwadia's 'In The Groove' record shop, snapping up the latest vinyl imports and getting to know the local househeads in the process.
After dislocating his knee in 2003 Pete put his time in a cast to good use learning the basics of a computer sequencer and the resultant 3 tracker received plays from many a house jock; Yousef, Lottie and Jason Hodges were all fans of his debut EP, released on Foot Fetish in April 2004.
Starting a label was the natural progression, and in 2004 Nagajan, Strakes and Pete put their heads together to set up Lost My Dog. In the dozen or so releases since, Lost My Dog has established itself as one of the UK's leading deep house labels - Jay Tripwire, Phil Weeks and Greenskeepers have all featured, and the label was listed in iDJ's recent "100 Reason's Why Dance Music Rules" feature.
Pete's reputation as an artist has also risen, mainly thanks to releases on Uniform, Bosh and Lost My Dog; remixing the likes of Blakkat, Tony Thomas and No Assembly Firm along the way, and himself being remixed by several of his biggest influences - Jay Tripwire, Demarkus Lewis and Inland Knights.
The future looks exciting - releases on well respected labels like Robsoul, S-Sens, and Headtunes along with a lot more DJing should make 2007 a good year for Pete Dafeet.
