Alex S

Alex S, or Alex Santos, started DJing and producing in 1990. He is credited as being one of the producers that contributed a great deal to the spread and development of dance music in Portugal when there were very few similar artists. Like the Underground Sound of Lisbon, The Ozone and OLN, Alex S is a pioneer in this adventure.

In 1994 he released his first 12" on Kaos Records under the name Urban Dreams and in 1995 a track of his was licensed for the whole world for the first time by a famous Belgian house label; Yeti. He also started his collaboration with some of the best Portuguese producers: Rui da Silva, Luís Leite, The Ozone.

1996 saw Alex enter the world of pop music producing “Estou na Lua”, a theme that went gold in Portugal, and in 1997 he released the CD “Alex S – Urban Dreams Productions”, thus becoming the first Portuguese DJ/Producer to record an album of original material.

Always connected to House music, Alex went on producing some 12"s and remixed some international artists like Funky Green Dogs, Madonna, Housetown, Vincent Kwok and the Portuguese artists - Silence 4, David Fonseca, Paulo Gonzo, Corvos.

In 2001 Alex started his collaboration with two French DJs, Rocco and Manoo, forming the group Rodamaal, a project that at present is part of the luxury catalogue of Buzzin’ Fly Records (a nominee in the House Music Awards in the category “Breakthru Label”).

At the moment he is resident DJ at the Studio Club in Leiria, where every Saturday, for the last five years, he has played to hundreds of people at his popular “Saturday Night Sessions”.
